Falcon to Be Honored by Football Hall of Fame (w/VIDEO)

A Fort Campbell High School student-athlete will be recognized as a finalist for the U.S. Army-Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence. The formal recognition will be presented by a Pro Football Hall of Famer during a formal ceremony at Fort Campbell High School on April 3.

John “Jack” Cogbill, a sophomore, is one of 25 high school student-athlete finalists. Cogbill has served as the captain of the varsity soccer and was a member of the varsity wrestling team at Fort Campbell. He has made the Kentucky High School Athletic Academic All-State First Team.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Cogbill is a student council representative and participates in the Spanish and STEM clubs. He also was involved in University Interscholastic League for math and theater arts. He supports his community various projects with the Boy Scouts, being a robotic volunteer, and working with military family readiness groups.

Every U.S. Army-Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence finalist will be honored in Canton during the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week in August. The celebration will start when the Award for Excellence finalists and their guests attend the Hall of Fame Game between the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears on Thursday, August 2. On Saturday, August 4, the finalists will be hosted at a special luncheon at which the winner will be announced and awarded a $2,500 scholarship.

Later that evening, all 25 finalists will attend the Enshrinement Ceremony for the Class of 2018 – Bobby Beathard, Robert Brazile, Brian Dawkins, Jerry Kramer, Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Brian Urlacher.
