Logan County batters roughed up Christian County pitching for four runs in back to back innings Saturday afternoon on their way to a 9-4 win over the Colonels at Christian County High School. The two big innings broke open a tie game and spurred the Cougars to the win.
After Logan County took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Colonels tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. Austin Fields came up with a two out single to drive in Payton George and even things up heading into the 3rd inning.
Logan County opened the top of the third inning with a walk and two hit batters to load the bases with no one out. A single, followed by a base clearing double, put the Cougars back in front at 5-1.
Christian County got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning when Wyatt Stevenson doubled and then later scored on a passed ball to cut the lead to 5-2.
In the top of the 4th inning, Logan County put the game away. After the Cougars loaded the bases on three walks, Koby Wall tripled to right field to empty the bases and make the score 8-2. Wall ended up with 6 RBIs in the contest. Third Bell then grounded out to drive in Wall and push the lead out to 9-2.
Christian County tried to mount a last ditch rally in the 7th. Stevenson homered to make it 9-3. Lane Duiguid then singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single from Cameron Crider to get to the final margin of 9-4.
Logan County got their nine runs on only four hits, while Christian County had four runs on eight hits in the game.
