Caldwell County remains atop the YSE Baseball Super 7 this week, with the top six remaining the same. Trigg County replaces Hopkinsville in the No. 7 spot this week.
1) Caldwell County (5-2) – The Tigers’ only two losses have come to Paducah Tilghman, the No. 13 team in the Prep Baseball Report preseason rankings. While their pitching was spotty against the Blue Tornado, they have a 2.57 ERA in their five wins. A showdown with No. 2 Christian County was canceled due to weather earlier in the week.
2) Christian County (2-3) – Two of the Colonels’ three losses have come to teams ranked in the preseason top 25 – No. 7 McCracken County and No. 15 Logan County. Christian County will try and find some offensive consistency this week at the USA Classic in Memphis.
3) Henderson County (1-2) – After a season-opening loss to top-ranked Pleasure Ridge Park, the Colonels were shut out by Caldwell County. They bounced back Monday with a three-homer win over Crittenden County.
4) Livingston Central (2-1) – The Cardinals will get some much-needed play this week in Florida, which includes games against Fourth Region teams Barren County and Greenwood.
5) Union County (1-1) – Like Livingston Central, the Braves are also at the Fort Walton Beach Bash where they will get a jump on their brethren who stayed back in Kentucky to play. Among their games is a contest with No. 21 Lafayette.
6) Madisonville (2-2) – The Maroons are at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach where they lost to No. 2 Highlands 11-4. It was the first time in four games Madisonville allowed more than four runs.
7) Trigg County (1-1) – The Wildcats bounced back from an opening day loss to Caldwell County to shut out Murray. Trigg will join Caldwell County in a two-day event in Kingsport, Tennessee this week.
