The Caldwell County Lady Tigers rolled into the 2nd Region Class A softball semifinals Monday evening by dispatching the Livingston Central Lady Cardinals 20-0. Caldwell County scored all 20 runs in its last three at bats to pick up the win.
The game was tied 0-0 when the Lady Tigers came to bat in the top of the 3rd, and the offensive attack got underway. Caldwell County scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The big blow in the inning was a three run home run by Moshea Glover to make it a 3-0 game. Caldwell County would end the top of the 3rd up 4-0.
The attack began again in the top of the 4th inning, as the Lady Tigers scored 6 more runs to extend the lead to 10-0. Allie Felker had an RBI double in the inning, and Glover had her 2nd home run in as many innings, with a 2 run blast. Jamie Burke and Peyton Young added to the big inning, Burke with an RBI triple and Young with an RBI double.
In the top of the 5th, the Lady Tiger bats got even hotter, as Caldwell County plated ten more runs to put the game away. Moshea Glover’s big game got even bigger, as she connected for a double and a two run home run, her third of the game.
Meanwhile, Katie Franklin silenced the Livington Central bats, holding the Lady Cardinals to only two hits over the five innings, while striking out 12.
Glover ended up the game going 4-5, with 3 home runs and 7 RBI’s. Peyton Young was 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Maja Hollowell went 3-3 with 2 RBI’s in the game. Eleven different Lady Tigers had hits in the game.
The win improved Caldwell County to 2-1 on the season.
