The Caldwell County Lady Tigers will play Thursday evening for the chance to advance to the All A Classic state softball tournament. The Lady Tigers advanced by blanking the Crittenden County Lady Rockets 8-0 in a semifinal game played at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.
Caldwell County controlled the game from the early innings and were never seriously threatened over the seven innings. Katie Franklin was strong in the circle, giving up only four hits, while striking out six and allowing only two walks.
The Lady Tigers got on the boards in the second inning, scoring three runs. The big hit in the inning came in the form of a two run home run by first baseman J’Aimee Burk.
Caldwell County added a run in the third inning when Madi Choate singled to drive in Moshea Glover and extend the Lady Tiger lead to 4-0.
Caldwell County then put the game away with four more runs in the top of the 6th inning. Most of the damage was done on back-to-back-to-back extra base hits. Haley Stiles had a double, followed by a double from Allie Felker, and then capped off with a triple by Katie Franklin.
Burke was 2-4 on the evening with a home run and two RBI’s. Katie Franklin was 2-4 with an RBI. Madi Choate went 2-2 with an RBI. And, Mashea Glover was 1-3, with four stolen bases.
The win improved Caldwell County to 3-1 on the season, and was the Lady Tigers third straight win.
