Thanks to the weather, the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers did not play a game for the first three weeks of the softball season. Now they are one win away from playing in the All A Classic state tournament.
The Lady Panthers scored 17 runs in the first inning of their All A semifinal game with Fort Campbell Tuesday night and never looked back, winning 22-0 on a very cold night at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville. Dawson Springs had an 8-0 lead before they made their first out of the game.
By the time all was said and done in the top of the first, 23 Lady Panthers had gone to the plate. Fort Campbell continued to have pitching struggles, walking 7 and hitting one batter in the first. Additionally, the Lady Falcons committed 3 errors in the inning. They would have six errors over the three inning game.
Dawson Springs pitchers gave up no hits and struck out seven in their three innings of work.
The win improved Dawson Springs to 2-0 on the season and advanced them to Thursday evening’s All A Regional championship against Caldwell County.
Fort Campbell falls to 1-10 on the season.
