The Christian County Colonels used a strong pitching performance from Lane Duiguid to knock off the Hopkinsville Tigers for the second night in a row Friday. Duiguid limited Hopkinsville to one hit over five innings, as the Colonels rolled to an 11-0 win.
In addition to the strong pitching effort from Duiguid, the Colonel bats hammered Tiger pitching for 12 hits in four at bats on the evening. The Colonels scored two runs in the first, 3 more in the second, and six runs in the bottom of the 3rd.
In the bottom of the first inning, Jason Polley singled to drive in Austin Fields and Eric Silvy to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead. Christian County struck again in the second inning with Wyatt Stevenson hitting a single to drive in Elijah Owens and Patrick Croney. Jason Polley followed with a double to drive in Austin Fields to make it 5-0.
Christian County then put the game away in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The big hits in the inning came from Wyatt Stevenson, who connected on a 2-run single, and Cameron Crider and Keith Stallons, who each had RBI singles in the inning.
Caleb Bapp had Hopkinsville’s lone hit.
For Christian County, Wyatt Stevenson was 2-3 with 4 RBIs. Jason Polley was 2-2, and drove in three runs.
Lane Duiguid went five innings for the Colonels, giving up one hit and striking out ten.
Christian County picked up their third win in a row and improved their record to 5-6. Hopkinsville dropped to 6-7.
