The Trigg County Lady Wildcats found themselves on both sides of a 9-2 score on Friday night at the Marshall County Slugfest, falling by those numbers to Goreville, IL before beating Union County (6-7) by the same margin.  The results leave the Lady Wildcats at 5-5 on the year.

Trigg County started slowly, trailing 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning before taking advantage of two Goreville errors.  Freshman Adri Phillips reached on an error to allow junior Autumn Durham to score, followed by Alyssa Southwood scoring on the second miscue.

However, that would be all the runs the Lady Wildcats could manage, with Goreville adding 3 more in the bottom of the fourth and 1 in the sixth to prevail 9-2.

Junior Hannah Colbert took the loss, pitching 6.0 innings while allowing 9 runs, 7 earned, on eleven hits with seven strikeouts.  Durham had two hits for Trigg County and scored a run, Southwood scored once, and junior Madison Simpson had the only other hit.

Lexie King recorded the win for Goreville, going the distance and holding the Lady Wildcats to 2 runs on three hits, while striking out nine and walking two.  King also had four hits and 2 RBI, joined by Macy Goins with two hits and 3 RBI.

In the nightcap against Union County, Trigg was the early aggressor, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in its first at-bat on an inside the park, 2-run home run by Colbert.  The Lady Wildcats struck again in the top of the third when junior Logan Darnall came home on a single by junior Madison Simpson.

In its next at-bat, Trigg County doubled its lead to 6-0 on an RBI single by freshman Phelan Dossett and a Darnall triple that brought home Phillips and Dossett.  Colbert blanked the Bravettes until the bottom of the sixth when they scored on a passed ball, but the Lady Wildcats answered with 3 more runs in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore Maggie Snodgrass singled home Colbert, before sophomore Raelyn Marlowe knocked-in Simpson and Snodgrass with a single.  Union County freshman Jralee Roberson hit an inside the park homer in the bottom of the seventh, but that was all they could muster and the Lady Wildcats claimed the 9-2 victory.

Colbert got the complete-game win, scattering five hits and surrendering 2 runs, 1 earned, with fourteen strikeouts and two walks.  Colbert had a hit and 2 RBI, as did Marlowe, while Darnall had 2 RBI and was the only Lady Wildcat with two hits.  Simpson, Snodgrass, and Dossett each had a hit and an RBI, with Southwood and juniors Julia Rhone and Ashlyn Keller each picking up a hit.

Freshman Hannah Carter took the loss, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing 9 runs, 6 earned, on ten hits and walking three.  Senior Ashley Conway was 2-2, and Roberson was 2-4 with an RBI.

If the weather cooperates, Trigg County will be back in Marshall County on Saturday, facing Murray (5-8) at 10 AM and Daviess County (5-2) at 2 PM.
