1) Caldwell County (12-2) – The Tigers have won eight straight games, including another All-A region title. Their only two losses have come to Paducah Tilghman, who some have ranked in their statewide top 20. They have two games this week with Madisonville and a third with Union County – all ranked in the YSE Super 7.
2) Henderson County (6-5) – The Colonels move into the No. 2 spot thanks to a tough out-of-region schedule that includes a loss to top-ranked Pleasure Ridge Park. Six of their next seven games are against teams from outside the region.
3) Christian County (5-8) – The Colonels are still trying to find their identity. Like Henderson County, they have played a tough schedule. Outside of a district doubleheader sweep of Hopkinsville, they have not put away region opponents. However, when they pitch their top two in the rotation like they did against Hoptown, they are worthy of a top three placement in the region.
4) Union County (6-5) – The Braves move up to No. 4 but stay behind Christian County despite knocking off the Colonels on Monday. The reason? They did not face either of Christian’s top two pitchers. However, the Braves can rake with anyone in the region, led by Murray State signee Trey Hutchinson.
5) Madisonville (6-3) – The Maroons slip to No. 5 after a loss to Union County and a one-run win over Webster County. Two games with Caldwell County this week will tell us about both teams, especially if they both throw their top hurlers.
6) Lyon County (4-3) – The Lyons knocked off defending Fifth District champion Livingston Central in the All-A region before dropping a pair to Caldwell County. The Lyons could make a move in the rankings if they find some consistency in their starting rotation.
7) Trigg County (6-3) – The Wildcats scored 24 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Crittenden County – the first real sign of life from their bats this season. If their hitting catches up to their pitching, they too can make a move up the rankings.
