Errors Costly as Caldwell County Falls to Madisonville

Five errors and spotting the Madisonville Maroons a 3 run first inning lead were too much for the Caldwell County Tigers to overcome Tuesday evening. The Tigers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Maroons in a 7th District matchup in Madisonville..

Madisonville got on top of the Tigers in the bottom of the 1st, taking advantage of two errors and a walk to take a 3-0 lead. The Maroons also got a pair of singles in the inning from Dameron and Gray.

The score remained the same until the top of the 5th inning. The Tigers then got themselves back into the ballgame, cutting the Maroon lead to 3-2. Bryce Thomas opened the inning with a double. Oliver Parker singled, advancing Thomas to 3rd with no outs. Tate VanHooser singled, scoring Thomas, however Parker was thrown out at 3rd base. VanHooser would later score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ty Ramey.

Madisonville got an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning, again taking advantage of a Caldwell County error.

Caldwell County got a single from Oliver Parker in the top of the 7th inning, but could not sustain a rally against the Maroon pitching.

Parker went 2-3 for Caldwell County, while VanHooser was 1-3 with an RBI.

Shane Burns took the loss for Caldwell County, going the distance, giving up four runs on six hits. Burns did strike out 12 Maroons in the game.

The two teams will play again Thursday in Princeton.
