The Christian County Lady Colonels picked up their 6th win in a row Tuesday evening. The Lady Colonels went on the road and knocked off the Greenwood Lady Gators 7-1.
Christian County took control of the game early, scoring three runs in the top of the 1st inning and never looking back. The Lady Colonels took advantage of some “generous” Greenwood pitching, as the Lady Gators gave up five walks and a hit batter in the inning. Christian County got their three runs without benefit of a hit.
Christian County added a run in the second inning when Tyler Shemwell doubled, scoring Emmy Blane who had walked, to make it 4-0.
After Halle Hendricks singled to open the top of the 4th inning, Hope Jones hit a two run shot to centerfield to extend the Christian County lead to 6-0. The Lady Colonels added an insurance run in the top of the 6th inning when Taylor Shemwell doubled, scoring Lexie O’Daniel to make it 7-0.
Greenwood would get a run in the bottom of the 7th but by that point, the game was long decided.
Macy Lancaster was 2-3 for the Lady Colonels, with an RBI. Hope Jones was 1-3, with a home run and 2 RBIs.
Lexie O’Daniel went three innings in the circle to pick up the win. She gave up no runs on no hits, and struck out six.
