Madisonville-North Hopkins took an early lead Friday night, but Lyon County battled back, scoring 8 runs over the last four innings for a 10-8 extra-inning win over the Maroons.  The Lyons claim their second-straight victory, improving their record to 6-4, while the Maroons have lost their last two, and three of four, to stand at 7-5 on the year.

The Maroons pushed 4 runs across in the bottom of the first, before adding another in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.  The Lyons took advantage of an error in the top of the third to cut the lead to 5-2, but Madisonville restored its 5-run lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lyons stormed back over the next four frames, scoring 2 runs in each, beginning in the fifth with a single by senior Brody Bridges to bring in senior Max Wadlington and junior Gabe Board.  The Lyons closed to within a run at 7-6 in the sixth, scoring on RBI singles by juniors Keaton Bridges and Dylan Capello.

Madisonville got a run in its half of the sixth, but the Lyons got it back on an RBI triple by freshman Travis Yancy, before Yancy came home on a single by freshman Brady Darnell to tie the game at 8-8.  Board, on in relief of senior starter Christian Whalin, shut-down the Maroons in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

8th grader Gunnar Bingham came through for the Lyons in the top of the eighth with an RBI single, and senior Taylor Carney doubled the lead with a sacrifice fly to score freshman Clay Haines.  Board would make the lead stand, inducing two ground-outs and a line-out in the bottom of the inning to close out the game.

Board earned the win, working 3.0 innings and only allowing 1 unearned run on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.  Whalin went 5.0 innings, yielding 7 runs, 5 earned, on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Brody Bridges was 3-5 with 2 RBI, with Board and Yancy collecting two hits each and Yancy knocking-in a run.  Bingham, Keaton Bridges, Capello, Carney, and Darnell all had a hit and an RBI each.

Freshman Jonathon Cain took the loss for the Maroons, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing 6 runs, 4 earned, on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks.  Sophomore Jon Hogart did his part, going 4-4 with an RBI, and sophomore Cole Lawrence collected two hits and drove-in 4.

The Lyons are back in action on Saturday when 7-5 Ohio County makes the trip to Eddyville.
