Christian County senior Diion Leavell made his college plans official on Thursday, signing to wrestle and play football at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.
Leavell leaves behind a sterling career wrestling record of 157-52, making him the all-time win leader for the Colonels. He was a 4-time state qualifier, 5-year letterman, and a member of the team for an amazing 10 years. He was also a 4-time Kentucky National Team Member, and a 4-time All American. His 2017 record was 33-5, earning 182 lb. state runner-up and King of the Bluegrass Champion.
Leavell’s time on the Colonel football team as a running back and line backer yielded a 32-16 record, with an increase in wins each year leading up to a 10-0 regular-season record in 2017, the program’s only perfect regular season. Leavell ran for 499 yards on 129 rushes and got in the end zone 7 times during his senior season. During his career he was named to the All WKC Team and racked up 547 yards on the ground and 76 tackles.
