The Lyon County baseball team conceded 7 runs over the first two innings to visiting Ohio County on Saturday, ultimately falling 8-2.  The Lyons had won two straight, but fall to 6-5 with the loss.  The Eagles win their third in a row to improve to 9-4.

Lyons’ junior starter Dylan Capello was roughed-up early, allowing 2 runs in the first and 5 in the second before being relieved by freshman Travis Yancy.  The Lyons got 1 back in the bottom of the first, taking advantage of an Ohio County error to score senior Max Wadlington.

8th grader Gunnar Bingham singled to bring in junior Gabe Board in the third, cutting the Eagles’ lead to 7-2.  However, Ohio County restored its 6-run lead in the top of the fourth, and neither team could generate any offense over the last three frames for the final 8-2 score.

Capello took the loss, lasting 1.1 innings and yielding 7 runs, 6 earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts.  Bingham was 2-4 at the plate with an RBI, followed by Wadlington with two hits and a run scored.  Yancy, Board, and senior Taylor Carney each collected a hit.

Junior Travis Fulkerson earned the win with 3.0 innings of work, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.  Sophomore Alex Reyes led the Eagles’ offense with two hits and 3 RBI, followed by sophomore Benjamin Batts with a hit and 2 RBI.

The Lyons return to the field on Monday, welcoming the 7-7 Union County Braves to Eddyville.
