So see if you can follow along here. Trigg County beat Lyon County, who beat Madisonville, who beat Caldwell County, who beat Henderson County, who beat Union County, who beat Christian County, who beat Trigg County. You got that?

Depending on the pitching matchup and which team brings their bats with them, the Second Region is still a wide-open affair with Caldwell County still in the lead.

1) Caldwell County (14-3) – The Tigers split their two district games with Madisonville and beat Union County in extra innings. Does that mean the rest of the region pack is catching up with the Tigers? That remains to be seen. First, the Tigers have to focus on beating Carlisle County in the All-A Sectional Friday with a shot at returning to the All-A Classic State Tournament.

2) Henderson County (10-5) – The Colonels have won seven of eight games, with their only loss in that stretch to Third Region All-A champ Hancock County. Only four of the Colonels’ 15 games have come against region opponents. They will host No. 6 Trigg County Friday.

3) Christian County (7-9) – The Colonels edged University Heights in 13 innings Tuesday and have won five of their last seven games. They will get a good test this weekend at the Louisville Invitational Tournament where they will face No. 14 Tates Creek.

4) Union County (7-7) – After back-to-back wins over Christian County and Hopkinsville, the Braves dropped consecutive extra inning games to Caldwell County and Owensboro.

5) Madisonville (9-5) – After dropping three of four games to teams in the YSE Super 7, the Maroons bounced back with an impressive mercy-rule win over Livingston Central, which kept the Cardinals from cracking this week’s Super 7.

6) Trigg County (9-5) – The Wildcats move into the No. 6 spot this week after a win at Lyon County. The Wildcats also picked up a win over a good Muhlenberg County squad 10-0.

7) Lyon County (6-5) – The Lyons lost to No. 6 Trigg County, but picked up an impressive win over No. 5 Madisonville. The Lyons stay behind the Maroons in the Super 7 due to a pair of losses to No. 1 Caldwell County.
