The Todd County Central baseball team hung in through the early innings on Wednesday, but were ultimately overrun 16-0 in five innings by the visiting Franklin-Simpson Wildcats. The Rebels lose their third-straight to slip to 2-11, while the Wildcats have won seven in a row to move to 14-5 overall.
Todd County sophomore starting pitcher Bryce Nolan kept the Wildcat attack at bay over the first three innings, yielding just 2 runs before walking the first three batters in the top of the fourth. Senior McKinley Griggs relieved Nolan, but the Wildcats put up 7 runs in the frame, following with 7 more in the top of the fifth for the final 16-0 score.
Nolan took the loss, surrendering 5 runs on two hits with two strikeouts and eight walks. Griggs got the only hit for the Rebels, and allowed 2 runs on two hits with a walk over two innings.
Senior Alex Gilbert picked up the win, going four innings with a hit, five strikeouts and a walk. Senior Clay Spears was 3-4 with 5 RBI to lead the Wildcat attack.
On Thursday the Rebels make the trip to Cadiz to face the 9-5 Trigg County Wildcats.
