Christian County started strong and finished strong in their 11-0 softball win Thursday at Muhlenberg County. The Lady Colonels scored six runs in the first inning and then smacked a pair of home runs as part of a four-run seventh inning.

Lexie O’Daniel and Hope Jones got the scoring going in the first innings with a pair of RBI singles that preceded a two-run double by Reni Shemwell. A wild pitch and Muhlenberg County error plated two more runs for the Lady Colonels and staked them to a 6-0 lead before the hosts came to bat.

Regan “Rev” Hancock kept Muhlenberg County off balance for most of the night, giving up just three hits and not walking a batter in five innings to get the pitching win. Muhlenberg County (4-5) only had one runner reach third base in the game.

Halle Hendricks laid down a squeeze bunt in the sixth inning to put them ahead 7-0.

The Lady Colonels salted the game away in the seventh inning when Emmy Blane led off with a solo home run, and Hope Jones followed later with a three-run bomb over the centerfield fence.

Jones finished with three hits and four RBIs. Taylor Shemwell added two hits as eight different Lady Colonels had hits in the contest.

Christian County (16-3) returns to action Saturday when they host Greenwood at 1pm.
