Wildcats Slide Past Lyons 3-2

Trigg County didn’t give Jake Terrell much run support in his last start against district rival Livingston Central last week. On Monday, they gave him three runs and he did the rest as the Wildcats beat Lyon County 3-2 at the Complex.

The win moves Trigg County to 4-1 in the Fifth District. They play 4-0 Livingston Central Thursday with a share of the district lead on the line.

Trigg County scored all three of their runs in the third inning. With two outs, Nick Ahart singled, and Trevor Cortner reached on an error. Riley Stallons and Savion Radford followed with RBI singles.

Lyon’s two runs came in the fifth inning when Taylor Carney and C O’Daniel singled. Max Wadlington scored one on a sacrifice fly, and Gabe Board added a sacrifice fly.

Terrell retired eight of the last nine batters to secure the win for Trigg County (10-7).

Lyon outhit Trigg 6-5 but two errors led to three unearned runs.

Stallons had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats. Radford, Terrell, and Ahart each had a hit.

Six different players had hits for the Lyons, with Max Wadlington ripping a double in the seventh inning.

Wadlington also took the loss on the mound for the Lyons, allowing five hits and just one walk while striking out four.

Terrell improved to 3-2 by allowing just six hits and a walk while striking out six. He needed just 79 pitches to get the complete game win, with 58 of his pitches strikes.

Lyon County (6-7, 1-3) hosts Crittenden County Tuesday and travels to Livingston Central Friday.
