The Todd County Central baseball team topped Russellville by a 5-2 score for the second time this season on Tuesday night.  The 13th District road win improves the Rebels to 3-12 on the year, 2-3 in district play.  The Panthers have a two-game win streak snapped, remaining winless in the district and 2-12 overall.

The Rebels capitalized on a passed ball to get a run across in the first inning, before adding 2 more in the third on another passed ball and an RBI single by 8th grader Tanner Farmer.  Russellville responded with a couple of runs in the bottom of the inning, but senior pitcher Nick Tutor shut the Panthers out the rest of the way.  Todd County added its final 2 runs in its half of the fifth, with Russellville committing two errors on the same play to allow Tutor and sophomore Bryce Nolan to cross the plate.

Tutor went the distance to earn the win, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, while scattering six hits with nine strikeouts and three walks.  Farmer had a hit and an RBI, followed by Tutor, Nolan, sophomore Dylan Hurt and freshman Jameson Hunt with a hit each.

Senior Dillon Porter took the loss for the Panthers, working 6.0 innings while giving up 5 runs, only 1 earned, on five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.  Junior Jesus Zamarripa had a hit and an RBI.

The Rebels will make the trip to Morton’s Gap on Thursday to play a doubleheader with Hopkins County Central (1-11).
