Christian County’s Lantana Hight won her opening girls’ singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Lyon County’s Divina Wallace, and will play Caldwell’s Maddie Morgan on Tuesday for a spot in the semifinals. Lindsey Bledsoe lost her first-round match 6-4, 6-1 to Madisonville’s Keelie Carter.
In girls’ doubles play, Melonie Elkins and Paige Gilliam fell in the first round 6-0, 6-0 to Hopkins County Central. Ella Brown and Lynn Elkins prevailed 6-2, 6-4 over Union County in their first game, before losing 6-0, 6-0 to top-seeded Caldwell.
In boys’ singles, Kordell Cooper lost 6-4, 6-0 to Lyon’s Brandon Burban, with Camilo Cuadros topping UHA’s Rohan Desai 6-4, 6-2 before being stopped 7-5, 6-0 in the second round by Hopkinsville’s Edward Lee Major.
Both doubles teams won their opening match, but saw their tournaments end in the second round. Tyquez Douglas and Kwytorion Pollard beat Lyon County 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7), but couldn’t get past top-seeded Madisonville, losing 6-0, 6-0. Carson Brown and Dylan Greenfield won 7-5, 6-4 over Fort Campbell in the their first match-up, before losing to 2nd-seeded UHA.
