Caldwell County Picks Up Two Wins Saturday in Best of the West

After a tough loss to South Warren Friday night, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers came roaring back Saturday at the Best of the West in Bowling Green. The Lady Tigers picked up a 9-2 win over Greenwood and then followed that up with a 7-2 win over Russellville.

In the first game of the day, Caldwell County scored in every at bat but one of the time shortened five inning game. After Greenwood plated two runs in the top of the first, the Lady Tigers came back with one in their half of the inning. Caldwell County then scored four in the third, three in the fourth, and one more in the bottom of the 5th inning to secure the win.

A big game for Mashea Glover, as she went 2-3 with 3 RBIs. J’Aimee Burk was 2-3 with 2 RBI’s.

In the circle, Katie Franklin went 3 2/3, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out seven while walking only one.

In the second game of the day, Caldwell County scored six runs in the first two innings and then cruised to a 7-2 win over the Russellville Lady Panthers. It was the second win for Caldwell County over Russeville this season. The Lady Tigers also beat the Lady Panthers 3-0 during pool play of the All A Classic.

Saturday, Caldwell County got started quick out of the gate, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st. Emma Staples got things started by stealing home. Allie Felker added an RBI triple and J’Aimee Burk had an RBI single.

The Lady Tigers pushed the lead out to 6-0 in the top of the second inning. The big hit in the inning was Katie Frankin’s RBI double.

After Russellville got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd, the Lady Tigers added an insurance run in the top of the 4th when Allie Felker singled to drive in Mashea Glover, who had tripled earlier in the inning.

Felker had a big game for the Lady Tigers, going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. Emma Staples went 2-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the circle, Katie Franklin, Peyton Young, and Illysa Stallons combined to limit Russellville to 2 runs on three hits, striking out five while walking three.
