The UHA Blazers rallied late to tie their game at Edmonson County Saturday morning, only to see the Wildcats then win the game in walkoff fashion in the bottom of the 8th inning. Edmonson managed to sneak away with a hard fought 3-2 win.
The Blazers got on top of Edmonson County early. Drew McGowan led off the game with a double. He then stole 3rd base and later scored on a ground out by Eston Glover to put the Blazers up 1-0.
Edmonson County came right back in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game on a two out solo home run.
The game stayed at 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th inning. The Wildcats got a two out RBI double to pull in front 2-1.
In the top of the 7th, Zach Naylor walked to open the inning. Drew McGowan then singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out. The Blazers were able to score Naylor after back-to-back fielder’s choices. Edmonson County then went in order in the bottom of the inning to send it to extras.
UHA went 1-2-3 in the top half of the 8th inning. Edmonson County led off the bottom of the inning with a single, and then got an RBI double to end the game.
Drew McGowan went 2-3 with a run scored. Scribby Goode was 1-4 with an RBI. Luke Welch went six innings for UHA, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out six and walking four. Drew McGowan was tagged with the loss, going one inning, giving up one run on two hits, striking out two and walking none.
