Lyons Put “The Board” to Hopkins Central for 6-2 Win

A quick start and a big day from Gabe Board helped spur the Lyon County Lyons to a 6-2 win over Hopkins Central at Mortons Gap Saturday afternoon. The Lyons scored all six of their runs in the first two innings, with four of those driven in by Board. The win put an end to a two game losing skid for the Lyons.

Lyon County got the game started with a walk to Gunnar Bingham. Travis Yancy hit an RBI triple to make it 1-0. Gabe Board then singled to left field to make it 2-0. Keaton Bridges then tripled to score Board and make it a 3-0 Lyon County lead.

The Lyons got the bats going again in the top of the 2nd inning, scoring three more runs. All three runs scored when Board homered to left field to extend Lyon County’s lead to 6-0.

Hopkins Central got two runs in the bottom of the 5th on two Lyon County errors, but could get no closer.

Gabe Board was huge for the Lyons, going 2-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Keaton Bridges was 2-3 with an RBI, and Travis Yancy was 1-4 with an RBI.

Keaton Bridges went the distance to pick up the win for Lyon County, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out seven while walking only two.
