The Caldwell County bats were in full gear Monday evening as the Tigers routed Calloway County 15-6 at Murray State University. The Tigers exploded for ten runs in the 4th inning to take control of the game on the way to their 20th win of the season.
Calloway County led the game early, scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Tigers tied the game in the top of the 3rd on an RBI single by Dylan Gray. The Lakers responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.
In the top of the fourth, the Tigers picked up ten runs, with 8 of the runs coming after there were two outs. Dylan Gray had a two run single in the inning. Bryce Thomas added a two run triple. Bryar Riley drove in another two runs with a single. By the time the onslaught was over the Tigers had taken an 11-4 lead.
Calloway County scored a run in the bottom of the inning to trim the lead to 11-5. The Lakers added another run in the bottom of the 5th to make it 11-6.
Caldwell County then put the game away with four runs in the top of the 7th inning. Tate VanHooser and Easton Thompson had RBI doubles during the inning.
Dylan Gray was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored. Noah Brown was 4-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Tate VanHooser was 3-5 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. John Davis went 3-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. The Tigers had a total of 19 hits in the contest.
Bryar Riley pitched the last four innings of the game to pick up the win, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out one while walking four.
