Lady Colonels #1 in Final YSE 2nd Region Super 7

We have entered the final week of the regular season, and the question now appears to be “can anyone threaten the Christian County Lady Colonels?” Their grip on the top spot in the final YSE 2nd Region Softball Super 7 of the season seems to be pretty firm right now.

1 – Christian County (26-3-1) – The Lady Colonels have now won 11 in a row since their tie with Louisville Male. Included in the streak are two wins over the defending state champs. They are the favorites to get to Owensboro as the postseason begins.

2 – Webster County (16-8-1) – The Lady Trojans have lost two of their last five, but those were close games with Male and Holy Cross. No shame there. And, they beat Madisonville 6-2. The Lady Trojans will not be fun to face in the postseason.

3 – Madisonville (12-7) – The Lady Maroons have lost 6 of their last 8, BUT, that stretch of games has been more than brutal. Not gonna count the defending state champs out until they are done.

4 – Caldwell County (14-9) – The Lady Tigers won 2 of 3 at the Best of the West, with the only loss to South Warren. This is still one of the dark horse teams should they get hot in the postseason.

5 – Trigg County (20-11) – They are the top seed for the 5th District tournament and have won 5 of their last six. And don’t forget they are one of the few teams to play Christian County close this season.

6 – Henderson County (8-13) – I know the Lady Colonels are only 8-13, but their schedule has been tough, and I don’t know that any of the teams below them can handle Henderson County when push comes to shove. We shall see.

7 – Crittenden County (18-7) – The #7 spot was a tough choice between the Lady Rockets and Lyon County. However, the Lady Rockets won 2 of 3 during the regular season. Guess which two teams meet in an elimination game in the first round of the district tournament.
