They met just a few days ago in the Girls 2nd Region tennis tournament semifinals, and they had to open their play in the Girls State Tennis Tournament against one another. Caldwell County’s Belle Englebright and Hopkinsville’s Riley Fort squared off Thursday morning in Lexington on the courts at the UK tennis complex.
When the pair met in the 2nd Region tournament, Fort lost the match 6-1,6-0, but became the first opponent to win a game all season against Englebright.
Thursday, it was Englebright again, and this time she did not lose a game, as she advanced to the 2nd round by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
Fort will return next year for her senior season.
