The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers went on the road to Morton’s Gap on Thursday, falling 11-1 to hosts Hopkins County Central. The Lady Storm snap a three-game losing streak to move to .500 at 11-11, while the Lady Tigers drop their ninth straight to slip to 6-23.
The Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Hopkins Central posted 2 in its half of the inning to take the lead for good. The Lady Storm did most of their damage in a 6-run third and finished the game off at 11-1 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lauren Hodge took the loss, pitching 4.0 innings while allowing 10 runs on seven hits with a strikeout and nine walks. Shelby Harbour and Morgan Hodge had the only hits for the Lady Tigers.
Mercy Sutton earned her first varsity win, going the distance while yielding a lone run on a couple of hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Brenna Sherman had a hit and an RBI and scored twice for Hopkins Central.
Hopkinsville closes out the regular season on Saturday with a game against the visiting 6-11 Dawson Springs Lady Panthers.
