Christian County looks to continue a pair of impressive streaks when the Eighth District Softball Tournament begins Monday at Hopkinsville High School.

The Lady Colonels (30-3) have won 26 straight district tournament games on their way to winning 13 straight district titles. Hopkinsville in 2004 was the last team to dethrone the Lady Colonels atop the district.

Christian County opens play Monday in the Eighth District Tournament at 7 pm against Fort Campbell. The Lady Colonels, who have not allowed a run in the first round since 2013, beat the Lady Falcons 15-0 in their only meeting on April 9.

Fort Campbell (1-30) beat Fulton City 18-8 back on March 31 for their lone win of the season. The Lady Falcons have dropped 28 straight games since their win.

At 5:30, two-seed Hopkinsville will play three-seed University Heights in the other semifinal.

Hopkinsville (6-23) beat UHA 21-6 on April 30 but have lost nine straight since then. Hoptown also won the first game of the season between the schools 22-6 on April 12.

UHA (1-9) has battled the injury bug throughout the season. The Lady Blazers beat Fort Campbell on April 13 to avoid the district’s No. 4 seed.

Monday’s winners will advance to Tuesday’s championship game at 5:30 with both teams also heading to next week’s region tournament at Madisonville.
