Hoptown Blasts UHA to Advance to District Title Game

It was a messy Monday for the University Heights Lady Blazers.  UHA recorded just one hit and were shut out before being mercy ruled by Hopkinsville 15-0 in the semifinals of the Eighth District Tournament at Hopkinsville High.

Hopkinsville not only played excellent defense but had a miraculous day at the plate. The Lady Tigers rapped out 15 hits and drove in 13 runs.

The star at the plate for the Lady Tigers was Lauren Hodge, who went 4-for-4 to drive in four runs and avoid striking out.  Shelby Harbour, Nadia Clayton, and Makenzie Carter added two hits each for the Lady Tigers.

Breanna Daniel recorded the lone hit UHA (1-10).

Winning pitcher Marley Hancock allowed just one hit while striking out three and walking three.

Ann-Marie Fitzpatrick suffered the loss in the circle for UHA.

The Lady Tigers (7-23) advance to Tuesday’s matchup to face the Christian County Lady Colonels, who defeated the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons in the other semifinal.

Lady Tigers who were recognized for All Academic honors were Allison Lutrell, Makenzie Carter, Maritza Uribe, Morgan Hodge, Sabrina Hodge, Shaniya Straight and Shelby Harbour.

For the Lady Blazers, Amaryia Bass, Breanna Daniel, Ann-Marie Fitzpatrick, Becca Fitzpatrick, Jaila Batey, Katie Beth Stevens, Lydia Humphries, Mallory Ladd, Mia Litchfield, Rachael Snyder, Raleigh Fitzpatrick and Regan Pollard were recognized.
