Shemwell Slugs Lady Colonels to District Title Game

Much like their regular season game, Christian County’s district softball matchup with Fort Campbell was rather quick.  The Lady Colonels mercy ruled the Lady Falcons 15-0 in three innings Monday in the semifinals of the Eighth District Tournament at Hopkinsville High.

Christian County recorded 11 hits and avoided striking out in 13 at-bats. Fort Campbell failed to reach base in just nine at bats.

Leading the way for the Lady Colonels was junior Tyler Shemwell, who went  went 3-3 at the plate that included a home run with seven RBI.

Hannah Sumner went two innings to toss 20 pitches and fan five. Regan Hancock took over in the third to throw 11 and strike out the side.

Christian County (29-3) extended their district tournament winning streak to 27 games.  Fort Campbell sees their season end with a record of 1-31.

With the win, the Lady Colonels advance to Tuesday title game matchup with the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Before the game, Lady Colonels who received All Academic honors were Bridget Owens, Elijah Underhill, Emmy Blane, Halle Rhea Hendricks, Hannah Sumner, Hope Jones, Karlee Crick, Kaylee Perry, Kelsey O’Daniel, Lexi O’Daniel, Macy Dukes, Macy Lancaster, Pickle Winkler, Regan Hancock, Reni Shemwell, Riley Hancock, Taylor Shemwell, Tenley Gilbert, and Tyler Shemwell.

Kianna Almodovar, Sara Silva and Zoe Loveall were honored for the Lady Falcons.
