The Pennyrile Umpires’ Association remembered two of their own prior to the start of the Second Region Baseball Tournament Monday at Christian County High School.
Barry Lutz, who was beginning his 28th season as a high school umpire, passed away in February.
Jim “J.D.” Dorris died earlier this month and was in his 38th season as a high school umpire.
Barry’s son Ben threw out a ceremonial first pitch in memory of Barry, while J.D.’s wife Mary Kay threw out a ceremonial first pitch in memory of her husband. Both were flanked by their families.
