One day after guiding Christian County to the school’s first region title in six years, Lady Colonel Coach Johnny Blane was named the region coach of the year by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
Christian County heads to the state tournament in Owensboro this week with a record of 35-3, with those three losses coming to schools from Alabama. The Lady Colonels were 15-0 against Second Region schools, which included three wins over defending state champion Madisonville.
The Lady Colonels open play in the Owensboro Health/KHSAA State Softball Tournament Thursday at 7pm against Marshall County in Owensboro. Christian County beat Marshall County 4-3 back on March 27.
Madisonville outfielder Lexi Miller was named the region player of the year by the coaches’ association.
