Emma Talley struggled in her final round at the U.S. Women’s Open but still moved into second place in the LPGA Rookie of the Year Standings.
Talley shot a 5-over Sunday to finish the tournament at 8-over and tie for 41st place. She took home $20,575 for her finish, with the U.S. Open featuring the largest purse of the year on the LPGA Tour.
Talley’s best round came on Friday when she shot a 1-under to move into the top 25.
The U.S. Open was played at Shoal Creek Golf Club in Alabama, where Talley plays during her off season to hone her skills. She filled over 100 ticket and pass requests for family and friends, including some from nearby University of Alabama where she was an NCAA champion.
Talley has earned $156,368 in her first season on the LPGA Tour, good for 45th on the money list. If she finishes in the top 80, she retains her tour card for 2019.
The Princeton native also passed Hannah Green into second place in the Rolex Rookie of the Year Standings. Jin Young Ko, who has a tour win this year, comfortably in first place in the standings.
The next stop on the LPGA Tour is the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer this weekend in Galloway, New Jersey before returning to Michigan for the Meijer LPGA Classic in Grand Rapids the following week.
