Colsons Bag Top Five Finishes on Lake Barkley

It was a good day for the Colson family as Ramie Colson Jr. and his son Douglas both brought home top five finishes at the FLW Costa Series stop on Lake Barkley.

Ramie finished in fifth place in the pro division and brought home $10,500. He also jumped from 102nd to 29th in the Costa Series standings. He caught 15 fish totaling 55-pounds, 9-ounces. His top day was Thursday when he caught 21 pounds.

Jake Lawrence of Paris, Tenn. won the event with a total of 72-pounds, 4-ounces, winning by over seven pounds.
Benton’s Brandon Hunter finished seventh, and Mark Pierce of Cadiz finished 11th.

On the co-angler side, Douglas Colson had the biggest haul of Saturday to finish a career-high third in the event. He caught 14-pounds, 3-ounces Saturday, giving him a three-day total of 36-pounds, just 1.8 pounds behind the winner

Hunter Fillmore of Waynesville, Ohio. Douglas earned $4,650 for his finish and jumped to 25th in the co-angler division standings.

The father and son will fish on the Lake of the Ozarks Oct. 10. If they finish in the top 40 in points, they will compete in the championship on Lake Guntersville, Alabama on Nov. 1.
