Emma Talley finished tied for 28th Sunday at the Shoprite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey. Her finish keeps her 44th on the money list, and she made a small gain in the Rolex Rookie of the Year standings.
The Princeton native finished the three-round event at 6-under par, which was 10 shots behind the winner Annie Park. Talley shot scores of 1-under on Friday and Sunday and was 4-under on Saturday in a round that saw her carve out seven birdies and four bogeys. Her driving accuracy kept her under par as she only missed seven fairways off the tee in the three rounds.
Talley earned $13,086 for her weekend in the Garden State. She now has earned $169,454 in her first year as an LPGA pro. She remains 44th on the money list and is in good shape to finish the year inside the top 80 in order to keep her tour card for 2019.
She also gained 17 points on Jin Young Ko in the Rolex Rookie of the Year standings. Ko still leads handily with 562 points. Talley has 245 points and moved further ahead of third place Hannah Green, who missed the cut over the weekend. Talley is the only American in the top five of the rookie point standings.
The LPGA Tour returns to Michigan this week, the state where Talley has enjoyed her greatest success over the past two years. The Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give will be held in Grand Rapids starting Thursday.
