A good opening day for a former Hopkinsville Tiger in his first pitching start at his new minor league assignment. Easton McGee went five innings for the Hudson Valley Renegades Friday, as he and a pair of relievers held the Aberdeen Ironbirds to five singles as the Renegades began defense of their 2017 New York-Penn League Championship with a 4-0 road win.
McGee gave up only three hits in his five innings of work, walking one, and striking out two.
McGee, who was the 4th round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2016 MLB draft, is in his season with the Renegades, who are a Class A short season affiliate of the Rays.
