After declaring last week, Christian County’s Laderia Gold made if official Monday afternoon. With her smile lighting up the room, the Lady Colonel officially signed her paperwork to attend and play basketball at Southwestern Illinois College.
In her senior season at Christian County, Gold was an All-Region and All-District performer. She helped to lead the Lady Colonels to the 8th District title and an appearance in the Second Region championship game, where Christian County fell to Webster County on the Lady Trojans home floor.
Gold averaged 10.4 points and led the Lady Colonels with 68 three-pointers made. She was also among the Second Region leaders in free throw percentage at 84.6-percent.
Southwestern Illinois College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and competes in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, which includes Kaskaskia, John A. Logan, Rend Lake, Lincoln Trail, Olney Central, Wabash Valley and Southeastern Illinois College.
