The Hoptown Hoppers traveled to Madisonville Tuesday night and met their match as the Miners handed them their third straight loss, 11-4.

After a scoreless first inning, Hoptown found themselves in a hole early after allowing a five-spot to Madisonville in the second.

Offense for both clubs was then stagnant until the sixth, as both teams swapped a run.

Leading 6-1, Madisonville put their stamp on the game with another five-spot in the eighth.

Hoptown managed to put three runs up in the ninth before their final out.

The quality bat for the Hoppers was Davis Keller. Keller went 2-4 with a single, triple, 2 RBIs and a run.

Blake Jackson also went 2-4 with a single, double, RBI, run and a walk.

Taking the loss for Hoptown was starting pitcher Kyle Turner (three innings, seven hits, five runs, three strikeouts).

Miners starter Nicholas Rathke went six innings (eight hits, one run, six strikeouts) to earn the win.

Hoptown had Saturday (rain out) and Monday (rest) as nights off but failed to capitalize by losing at Dubois County and Madisonville.

Their bats have also suddenly gone cold, scoring just four and five runs in their last two outings.

However, despite their three game skid, the Hoppers find themselves still above .500 at 9-6 on the season.

They’ll be on the road again Wednesday night as they travel to Muhlenberg county to face the Stallions (5-10).

The Hoppers will look to end their losing streak with first pitch set for 7 P.M.
