After a successful season at Trigg County that saw him named the All-Area coach of the year for Class 2A, Ken Harrison has moved 20 miles east to Christian County to take over the struggling Colonel cross country program.
Harrison was introduced at a media conference at the school Tuesday.
Harrison was a long-time coach at Graves County and came to Trigg County last year. Under his guidance, the Lady Wildcat team won the Class 2A region title and had the region champion in Livi Ricks. She, along with five other Trigg runners, were named to the Class 2A All-Area Team. Harrison was also named the Class 2A Area 1 Coach of the Year.
Harrison missed the state meet in November after suffering a heart attack the night before the race that required surgery. He said he is healed and feeling better and looks forward to the challenge of building the Christian County cross country program.
Christian County last had a girls’ runner qualify for the state meet in 2015. The boys’ team has not qualified a runner since 2013.
