Stanford graduate and former basketball star Reid Travis took to Twitter Wednesday morning to announce he will transfer to the University of Kentucky for this fall’s upcoming basketball season.
Travis graduated from Stanford on Sunday and toured Kentucky on Tuesday before making his final decision.
The 6’8 forward averaged 19 points and eight rebounds in his final season as a Cardinal. In Lexington, his inside presence will be a quality addition to an already-loaded roster for the 2018-2019 season.
However, his on-court production isn’t the only benefit he’ll bring to Kentucky.
As a grad transfer, he’ll bring a maturity and veteran presence that Calipari has mostly been without during his time at Kentucky. For a team that will be full of freshmen and sophomores, Reid’s addition is the icing on the cake for an already action-packed offseason.
With the additions of Ashton Hagans and Travis, Kentucky is likely to move up to the top as the favorite to win next spring’s national championship.
Kentucky’s roster is now likely finalized for the upcoming season and will look like this:
Guard
Ashton Hagans, Brad Calipari, Immanuel Quickley, Jemarl Baker, Jonny David, Quade Green and Tyler Herro
Forward
E.J. Montgomery, Keldon Johnson, PJ Washington, Reid Travis and Zan Payne
Center
Nick Richards
