Tuesday was the same result as Monday for the Hoptown Hoppers, as they fell to 0-2 in the Bluegrass World Series via a 10-2 defeat by the Westchase Express.
The two lone Hopper runs came in the fourth inning when Cody Hartness smacked a single-shot home run and Aidan Elias scored on an error.
The Hoppers are well short-handed, losing Ohio Valley League All-Stars Blake Jackson, Brian Coffey, Cole Cummings, MJ Rookard and Shane Burns when the OVL season concluded.
These losses have inserted pitchers such as Jaxon Herchenbach, Hassan Westbrook and Sam Traver, who didn’t see the batters box this summer during the regular season and playoffs. The lack of depth is giving these players a change of scenery by playing in the field for these first two games.
Hoptown will play one more game in Louisville, however they’ll return home for a few days before heading back to Louisville Slugger Field as the game isn’t until Friday.
Friday’s matchup will feature the Hoppers taking on the Louisville Stars, with first pitch set for 7 P.M. EDT.
