Wood Stays Blazin’ Hot on the Links

Weston Wood continued his strong start to the golf season by shooting a career-best 34 at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club to take medalist honors Monday. The UHA junior eagled the par-4 third hole and birdied the fourth hole to help with his low round.

Jiles Wyatt shot a 39, followed by Kendall Doer (46) and Jude Doer (57). As a team, UHA shot a 176 to finish second behind Trigg County.

Rheagan Lindsey shot a 48 to finish second for the ladies.

On Saturday, Wood fired a 5-over 77 to again lead the University Heights Academy golfers at the Dawson Springs Invitational at Pennyrile Forest State Park.

Jiles Wyatt shot a 79 to finish two shots behind Wood and nine shots behind the winner, Marshall County’s Tyler Powell. Kendall Doer shot a 96, and Jude Doer added a 123 for UHA.

As a team, the Blazers’ score of 375 was good for 17th place out of 21 teams.
