UHA Girls’ Golf Team Makes History, Wins All-A Region

University Heights Academy made school history Saturday when the girls’ golf team won the Second Region All-A Classic Tournament at Deer Lakes Golf Course and qualified for next month’s state tournament in Richmond.

Rheagan Lindsey shot a career-best round of 85 to finish third in the region. Valie Smith shot a 123, followed by Sloan Hampton (128), Jessah Hayden (137), and Riley Johnson (141).

For the guys, UHA finished second as a team behind Livingston Central. Weston Wood shot a 76 to finish third in the region behind Livingston Central’s Darit Barnes and Cameron Head. Jiles Wyatt shot an 80. Both Wood and Wyatt qualify as individuals for the state tournament, which will be held in Richmond Sept. 8.
