Less than a month after stepping down as general manager of the Hoptown Hoppers, John Bruce has been named the president of the Ohio Valley League. The announcement was made on the OVL Twitter page Saturday night, although it was not posted on their website.
Bruce, who has served as the vice-president of the league, will replace Cubb Stokes. In his resignation letter to the Hoppers, Bruce said his resignation was effective Oct. 1. Owensboro RiverDawgs owner Vic Evans will serve as OVL vice-president.
Bruce served as Hoppers GM for four seasons, during which time the team won a regular season title and two division titles.
The Ohio Valley League is a summer collegiate wooden bat league with eight teams.
