No change this week at the top of the YSE 2nd Region volleyball “Super 7.” Caldwell County, Henderson County, UHA, and Crittenden County hold their positions as the best four in the region. We are getting to a part of the schedule, where we will start to more fully understand where these teams stand with the approach of the postseason.
– Caldwell County (9-2) – Straight set wins over district rival Hopkins Central and Christian Fellowship give you no reason to move the Lady Tigers out of the top spot. They head off to Central Hardin this weekend for the Queens of the Court.
– Henderson County (9-5) – The Lady Colonels get sweeps of Webster County and Hancock County. No big shock there. Henderson has now won five in a row, cementing their place in the #2 spot for the time being.
– UHA (10-2) – No matches last week, and no this week for the Lady Blazers, so no change for them in this week’s rankings. They return to action September 11 against Webster County.
– Crittenden County (11-1) – The Lady Rockets come up with a sweep of Fort Campbell in their only match of the week. Right now, there appears to be no team threatening Crittenden County in the #4 spot. Of course, that could always change.
– Madisonville (7-6) – A tough choice in the #5 spot. It just appears that Madisonville may be playing a little bit better than Hopkinsville at this point. Next week, it could be different, but for now their wins over Christian County and Hopkins Central are just enough to move the Lady Maroons up one spot.
– Hopkinsville (1-7) – I would have never predicted that the Lady Tigers would only be 1-7 at this point of the season. A big week ahead, as they have district matchups against Fort Campbell and Christian County. We will find out more about this team this week.
– Christian County (5-12) – The Lady Colonels are a team that recently has you feeling like they are so close to turning a corner and getting it going where they want. A tough, hard-fought loss to Madisonville last week, and then a sweep of Fort Campbell. A big week ahead for this team to tell us more about where they stand.
