Former Murray State women’s golf standout and four-time All-Ohio Valley Conference pick Moa Folke recently advanced out of stage one qualifying for the LPGA Tour and Symetra Tour.
Listen to Moa Folke on this week’s Running With the Racers Podcast.
Folke, from Tranas, Sweden, hit her last shot for the Racers in May at the NCAA Regional in Madison, Wisc., and is now making a successful transition to being a professional.
On Aug. 26, Folke advanced out of the first stage of qualifying at Mission Hills Country Club and in Rancho Mirage, CA at Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., with rounds of 71-75-71-72=289 (1-over-par). She placed 33rd in a group of 100 players that advanced. She was 33rd in the field of 145 players that made the cut from a starting field of more than 300 players.
For one of the top players to play in the 25 seasons of Murray State women’s golf, Folke is now back home in Sweden. She’s begin preparing for the second stage of qualifying (Oct 13-18) at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Depending on the size of the field, the top 15-25 players will advance out of the second stage to the finals at Pinehurst, N.C. (Oct. 22-Nov. 3).
Folke’s biggest legacy at Murray State is that she helped the Racers to back-to-back OVC championships while being named to the All-OVC Team four-straight seasons and winning the OVC Golfer of the Year Award as a junior in 2017.
