Easton McGee had another solid outing Thursday and helped pitch Hudson Valley into the championship of the New York-Penn League as the Renegades completed a series sweep with a 7-3 win over Auburn.
McGee pitched into the sixth inning after allowing five hits and two earned runs. He struck out three and walked just one. He didn’t get the decision as the Renegade bullpen allowed one of his inherited runners to score the tying run.
The former Hopkinsville High hurler has seen his season ERA drop in each of his last five outings. For the season, McGee has a record of 7-3 with an ERA of 5.23. He has struck out 37 in 63 innings and walked just 13.
Hudson Valley, the Class A short season affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, had the best regular season record in the New York-Penn League and will play the Tri-City ValleyCats, an affiliate of the Houston Astros, for the league championship in a best-of-three series that begins Saturday.
