The Trigg County boys’ soccer team stayed unbeaten at home with a 4-0 win over visiting Muhlenberg County on Thursday night. The victory is the second-straight for the Wildcats after dropping their first game of the season at Webster County, improving them to 5-1 on the year. The Mustangs slip to 2-5 overall.
Elijah Gaines found the back of the net off a pass from Clayton Setliff to give the Wildcats the lead six minutes into the game. Ten minutes later Will Jolly doubled the lead, before adding his second on a free kick thirteen minutes from the halftime break.
The Mustangs kept the Wildcat attack in check for most of the second half, but with eleven minutes to play Jolly completed his hat trick with a converted penalty kick. Trigg goalkeeper Matthew Smith returned to the lineup from injury and made 3 saves to collect the shutout.
Trigg County returns to action on Monday with a trip to Elkton to face Todd County Central (0-8).
