Hopkinsville beat University Heights Academy 3-0 Tuesday in a soccer contest that left both coaches pleased with what they witnessed. For Hopkinsville, it was a nice rebound game after playing three games in two days over the weekend in their annual Boots and Boots Classic. The final game was a 3-1 loss to Warren Central Sunday.

For UHA, the Blazers played without three starters and held Hopkinsville to three goals.  One day after seeing their streak of scoring in 29 straight games end in a 0-0 tie at Paducah Tilghman, the Blazers again failed to find the net.

Tyler Greenwell got the Tigers on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute when he scored off a pass from Ryan Roussel. Zach Moore scored unassisted nine minutes later to give Hoptown a 2-0 lead they would take into intermission.

Hoptown put the game away just two minutes into the second half when Greenwell tallied his second goal off a Welby Horn assist.

The Tiger defense held UHA to just four shots on goal, with Ethan Bailey saving three of those.

UHA continued to get strong play from their defense, with Dan Johnson making nine saves in goal for the Blazers.

Hoptown has won seven straight matches against the Blazers, although Tuesday’s three-goal win was their smallest during that stretch. Tuesday’s game was the lone regular season meeting between the schools.

Hopkinsville (8-3) will host Marshall County Thursday, while UHA (6-2-1) will host Graves County Saturday.
