After coming off the physical and emotional drain of a tough All A Sectional loss to Murray Monday night, the UHA Lady Blazers were faced with the task of returning to action just 24 hours later in an 8th District matchup against the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers. Hopkinsville gave the Lady Blazers a battle throughout the match, but could not find enough offense to pull off the upset, as the Lady Blazers came away with a 4-1 win on their home pitch.
The match started off like the Lady Blazers were going to cruise through the match. Lilly Strader put UHA in front 1-0 with a goal at the 9:00 mark. However, UHA struggled a bit trying to find the same offensive consistency and firepower they had exhibited in a win over McCracken County and the All A loss to Murray.
The Lady Blazers extended the lead to 2-0 on a goal by Grace Pape at 26:15. That would be the score when the two teams went to the break.
Lilly Strader got her second goal of the night, this one on a header off a corner kick, at the 44:30 mark to push the lead out to 3-0.
Hopkinsville got their first bit of significant momentum on the night when Ana Hernandez found the net at 59:00 to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Lady Blazers then closed out the match on a goal by Sarah Covington at 67:30.
The win improves UHA to 6-2, while Hopkinsville falls to 3-6.
